Day 124: Monsoon Season

I've never actually had an umbrella invert the way you see in movies, but it happened to me three times today! It poured, and was extremely windy all day, plus cold! So after my Bio2 test, I scurried back to the warmth of my dorm room. (Speaking of warm and cozy, I just fell asleep at the computer/notebook while studying. Woke up to Hannah standing over me. Definitely ready for bed now...)

Tonight there was a bake sale after Phi Lamb to benefit the girls that are going on a missions trip to Atlanta over Spring Break. Yummy cupcakes and brownies! After our delicious dinner of hot dogs wrapped inside crescent rolls. MMmmm.

Must get to bed now before I fall asleep again. Until tomorrow!

OOOH Just found a new button on my laptop!!! HOORAY! (Brings up my Outlook/e-mail!)

~3 full days until PDW~

Day 123: Superbowl Sunday

Go Packers!!
Not that I'm a huge sports fan, but we were rooting for Green Bay to win, so that was exciting! I went to church this morning - got to see a beautiful baby girl get baptized! Then went to lunch with a friend from back home. Then the infamous Sunday Publix Run. Then (lots of then's today) volunteered with Phi Lamb at the local homeless shelter to serve them dinner.

Then returned back to make our own dinner. Dinner tonight was stupendous - Grilled Cheese Burgers with Parmesan Tomatoes. YUM-E.

And then I studied in the lounge of Danielle's floor for a while because ours smelled like burnt popcorn (ew). And then came back downstairs and studied some more. First Bio2 exam tomorrow morning! Eek!! But this feels like the 4th time I'm learning the material, so hopefully it won't be too bad. I'll let you know tomorrow!

Time for bed now. It's 1 AM and we have lots of stuff going on tomorrow!! Hope you had a great day!

Day 122: Hi Mom, I'm on TV!

This morning, our school was featured on ESPN's College Gameday. The first 500 students to the basketball arena got free breakfast and a chance to be on TV. Danielle and I went, cheered for 2 and a half hours, and then I was mentally fried. It was really cool to see, but quite tiring. I could never be a cheerleader. Plus, we were told that if we held up signs promoting an insurance company that I will not advertise here, they would pay us $20. But no money was given. So I'm a little grumpy about that (not to mention sore arms). I watched the footage just now, and found a clip that I was in, but all you see is MY SIGN. Because I was being a good advertiser. Oh well! It was definitely an experience to be had! (A fun one)

We are just below the asterisk (orange shirt is Danielle)

I retreated back for a nap, some studying, and then a delicious quiche dinner with Danielle. Yumm! Top 5 favorite dishes we've made on campus! And we have leftovers! Yay! While we were waiting for the quiche to bake, and then after dinner, I helped Danielle make Valentine's Day cards for people in the hospital. It was a blast! But my dinner hour turned into a 4 hour arts and crafts session! Crazy! Needless to say, today was not too productive in the studying department...

Got to get on that for tomorrow :/

Day 121: Different Food Galore

I had Hare Krishna for lunch for the first time today. It's "karma free" food. It usually looks a little risky, but I had to try it for myself. And it was DELICIOUS! It was a red bean chili with rice, something close to mashed potatoes, and this delicious pumpkin pie flavored dessert stuff. I'm going to try it again next Thursday, so be ready for an update of a different meal.

Tonight I went to Mi Apa Latin Cafe with my Big, Jenny. Boy was that scrumptious as well!! Yummm! So I definitely want to go back. And eat more. Yummmm. Again. That's how good it was.

And finally, our Community Group had a "Pre-Love Life Potluck, Fort Building, Slumber Party Madness" Party. LoveLife is an all day conference happening tomorrow, and while I am not going to it, I wanted in on the party. And I don't think anyone actually slept over, but it was definitely fun. At this potluck, we had some amazing food. My favorite two eats had to be the baked brie, YUM (I love cheese) and the Chocolate Chip Oreo cookies. These were homemade chocolate chip cookies with a surprise Oreo stuck inside. Talk about ingenious. Seriously, this has made the list of the top 10 best things on the planet. Well, it should anyway. Wish you could have had some! Thank you to Skylar for making the delicious beasts!

I ordered myself a pre-birthday gift of the new Hawk Nelson CD that will be released on Tuesday (because I of course really want it seeing as how they're my favorite Christian band and all...). It's called Crazy Love and I am super excited to learn every word to every song! Therefore I am excited for Tuesday afternoon when it will arrive in the mail room. Hooray!!! Thank you Amazon.com for supplying me with all the goodies I could ever want.

Day 120: Melancholy Mist

Although I had a great day, there was a bit of a sad tone to it. Nothing bad happened, but I finished Dawson's Creek today. No more episodes to watch! To make it worse, there was a surprising death in the last episode and it made me super sad. I have truly enjoyed all of the love that the cast has shared with me over the last two months. They are my best friends and I am sad to see them go (except the pranks that Dawson plays on people. That can go.)

Anyways. I got out of my Forensics class over an hour early, so got to finish Dawson's in that time. And then I had a fabulous dinner courtesy of Panda Express with my friend Ana. We relived some middle school moments and decided we want a major that encompasses everything we learned in our Gifted classes. They were really fun problem solving classes, enriched with cultures and history, technology and mechanical engineering stuffs, mythology and poetry. It was the most diverse set of topics ever presented, but it was all creative and fun. What happened to that joy of learning? I can tell you I don't get that rush from anything anymore. So please, develop that curriculum into a brilliant major so I will know what to do. Thanks.

And of course, Thursday is our marvelous CRU night! Some amazing music was played, including two Switchfoot (my favorite!!!) songs sung by an amazing vocalist who sounds just like Switchfoot, so that was beyond awesome. I think I should share my favorite of the songs tonight, just happening to be from the lead singer of Switchfoot, Jon Foreman. It's called "Your Love is Strong" and is just a fantastic song, especially one to start off prayer with. Enjoy!

(And explaining the title, it was misty out all day. Was supposed to rain, but I was never outside when it did. So just misted. The end.)

Day 119: Lab, Laughter, and Library

This morning's Bio2 lab was so much fun! We were studying reflexes in the senses. So basically we played several games/exercises revolving around the eyes, ears, and that random reflex under your knee cap that doctors always test for but has no actual purpose (that's true). My lab partner, Devin, and I enjoyed our fun lab time. :) Much better than Chem lab!

After classes and a few errands I had to run, my Big, Jenny, came to the room to chill for an hour before a meeting. So we just hung out in the room, watched random SNL skits, and enjoyed each others' company. It was so great to realize how comfortable we are with each other and to just be able to talk non stop for an hour. I love her!

My Aztec Civilization class has a project due in the morning. For extra credit, we could go look at a book that was on reserve in the library to help with the project. Of course when I went this afternoon, someone else was reading it. So I had to miss my amazing community group (bible study) to go back after a meeting tonight.

OH YEAH! Danielle and I made Chicken and Dumplings (again) while watching Paula Deen make Chicken Pie. We have a new recipe to try. And in 8 days, we shall actually be eating her food! Woohoo!!!

Long Thursday ahead, so I better head off to bed.

I only have two more episodes of Dawson's Creek to watch. :(
Also, there's a thunderstorm happening outside! I LOVE THUNDERSTORMS (at night, when I am safely inside). They are just so... powerful. When Hannah heard the first boom of thunder, she said "OH! It's bowling night in heaven!" Can't wait to go bowling with Jesus!

Day 118: Heart Explosion

As you know, today is the first day of February!!! Also known as one of the best months of the year. It may be short, but it is packed full of lots of fun and opportunities! Paula Deen Weekend, Birthday!, Big's Birthday, weekend away with the Bahamas class, several tests and projects in between.

To celebrate this amazing month ahead, I started the heart fest. Seeing as February is typically known for Valentine's Day, hearts are in order to decorate with. I started with the white board, of course! I also have been making heart shaped ornaments for the past couple of days. I bought them over Christmas and decided now was the time to put them up. To do this, I had to temporarily take down a poster, but it may return later. Hope you enjoy the changes! I certainly did! Plus my toes and fingers are pink, red and heart-y. Many more heart designs to come this month because I LOVE hearts on my nails!

All in all, HAPPY FEBRUARY! Let the amazing month begin!

(Bonus, Obidiah the gator was out again today. Refer to yesterday if you missed that excitement.)
