Day 25: Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween!!!
I hope everyone's day went well! Mine was alright. It started with a 2am attack on the door from inconsiderate floor guests. They destroyed my whiteboard drawing, stole my marker, and knocked down decorations on other people's doors. I ran after them to see who did it, but couldn't find anyone. Oh well. I'm just hoping they return my marker soon...

Before and After the attack.

Other than that, I slept in again, did a little work, went to Publix and hung out on the floor for Halloween party! It was lots of fun. We played "Candy Corn Hole" (beanbag toss) and had a mummy wrap and costume contest not to mention great food.

Then I headed up to Danielle's where we constructed Stuffed Bell Peppers which were very delicious. We also had fresh fish spread sent from home as we perused the new Food Network magazine that Danielle has been subscribed for. Yay fun ideas!

So now, I'm back in the room to do more homework and await the arrival of my roommate.

Downside to the day? I'm sick. Thought it was just a sore throat, but I'm feeling the achy dizzy part of it more and more every minute. So that's not cool. I finally have cough drops though. So hopefully those + NyQuil + sleep = better...

Day 24: Frightful Delights

Today was pretty relaxing. I slept in, watched I.Q. with Meg Ryan, and then went to my Big, Jenny's, house for a movie night with her and her sister. We made Paula Deen cookies which were/are delicious and had some Paula Deen Pumpkin Cheesecake her sister had made. Yummmy!

We started to watch Premonition with Sandra Bullock, but it was way too creepy for us. So about a third of the way into the movie, we stopped and replaced it with Sydney White. This was a much better alternative!

We ended the night by taking pictures for my scrapbook. When we were taking a "funny" picture, Amy screamed "GATORS!" because a snapshot of the game came on and we all launched into the Gator chomp for the pic. It was all in all a great night. (minus the creepy Premonition stuff...)

Tomorrow's Halloween!!!

Day 23: Brinner and a Movie

I woke up this morning with an awful sore throat that has persisted the entire day. I'm quite sick of it. I never have troubles sleeping, but the cough is keeping me from falling asleep.

Hannah left this afternoon to go home, so in having the room all to myself, what do I do?
First I prepared goody bags for our floor mates for our Halloween party on Sunday. Then I watched Fools in Love which was really good!

Next, Danielle and I made Brinner (breakfast for dinner)! Pancakes, scrambled eggs, and bacon. Yummy! To make it better, she wore the "disguise" that Hannah's mom sent in a package last week. It was a little difficult to eat with, but she sure looked friendly! ;)

I then came back to my room and watched Serendipity. It was also really good! I'd definitely recommend both of these movies for anyone to watch.

Last night, I did my nails for Halloween.
The thing on the thumb is a spider (decal, I didn't draw it) and the rest of the nails are orange with purple tips.

And finally, the saddest news of the week: BERT IS DEAD.
Bert was the best pet bamboo anyone could ever ask for. He suffered from a bacterial infection of some sort before contracting a case of the white fungi. Included is his favorite outfit he was prepared to sport in the spirit of Halloween. A funeral service will be held for Bert sometime during the next week. All are welcome. Bert is survived by his loving owners, Lauren and Hannah. Please contact either of them in regards to attending the funeral. They thank you for your thoughts and prayers in this difficult time.

(P.S. We're looking for another pet plant. All plants looking for owners can apply by commenting on this post.)

Day 22: Relaxation

I have no homework due before Tuesday and no tests to study for. What does that leave? Relaxation!!

So besides catching up on my TV shows, what shall I do? Not sure yet.

I am however semi-excited for next week! I had contacted a student who has an internship with event management at the performing arts center here and asked if she could tell me what her internship/major was about. And she was kind enough to offer to have lunch so she can share! So next Tuesday, I will have a little more sense about what this major offers! Yay!

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have more relaxation to accomplish.

Wednesday, October 27, 2010

Day 21: Aye Aye Ayeeee

Today was boring. I got to sleep quite a bit (yay!) and the only other exceptional thing was the advising session I went to. I waited, asked the advisor to change my major and he said he didn't have the authority to do it. So now I'm no further ahead than I was on Tuesday. But alas, my roommate who also attended said advising session got HER major changed! Still don't understand that. But whatever. Just gives me extra time to ponder.

Here are the classes I've picked for next semester. Any suggestions or opinions are welcome!
Psych 1 (PSY 2012)
Intro to Public Speaking (SPC 2608)
General Anthropology (ANT 2000)
Skeleton Keys - Forensic Anthropology (ANT 3520)
Introduction to Recreation (LEI 2000 online)

That's it! Still up for alterations, but for now, it's good to go!

An awesome part of the day?? My friend Danielle needed a study break, so she walked down stairs and we talked for almost an hour until we decided she should go back and continue studying. It was great to talk to her for that long! (Good luck on the exam, Danielle!!)

Also, I slipped in the hallway (again) and hurt my foot. But besides a little bruise, only my pinky toe was damaged. But it has been bandaged with a Princess Tiana band-aid! So all better! ;)

Day 20: Surprise Surprise... For Real!

Several decent things happened today.
First, and most importantly, I got a good grade on my Calc 2 quiz from last week!

It's even hanging on the fridge because I'm so proud.

Next up, I went to the Career Resource Center for the "If you like to travel..." career session and it was really helpful! The presenter was very informative and the session was enjoyable. It made me feel a lot better and I may try to go and get some counseling there in the next few weeks. But have to talk to an advisor first...

Today was also A Cafe day, which is always delicious. I had leftovers from Pollo Tropical for dinner and then after my chem exam, My lovely roomie donated her last meal of the week (from the meal plan) to my hungry belly. Thank you Hannah!!

Downside to today: Chem test. Ew. But my brother drove me there and picked me up so I didn't have to walk all the way across campus in the dark, so that was good. But I have to tell you: Norman is the scariest building I've ever been in. The long empty hallways, a creepy unisex bathroom, and too many random staircases and pathways to get across a courtyard. I will plan my life around not having a class in there in the dark. Seriously creepy.

Also, today is the day I've been waiting for for several months: the release of both Taylor Swift and Good Charlotte's new albums. Well, besides the fact that I can't get to Target until Thursday or Friday, I just got really upset. Good Charlotte is my favorite band of all time (OF ALL TIME) and I've been waiting for their new CD since their last one came out two and a half years ago. They had some issues with the record label, whatever... The first date I started counting down for was in May right in the middle of AP exams. I was so excited to have music to study to until the week or so before I found out that the release was postponed to "fall 2010". Well that release date was today for a very long time (I put it in my phone in early July I think...) Well, I just found out 15 minutes ago that they postponed it AGAIN. But only until November 2nd, so that's not too bad, but it's still another week I've had to wait for it. I'm not a very patient person, as you can tell. Now: GET GOING GOOD CHARLOTTE. I'm too excited for this album. Get it out already!

On a happier note: Now that all my tests are finished for the week, it's time to relax a little! Yay! And pick classes for next semester... yay!

Happy Happy Wed-Nes-Day, WOOHOO!!! (it was a saying a teacher from high school used to say... boy do I miss that)

Day 19: Flies and Super Glue

This morning, my friend Kendall detailed how her room was infested with flies when she returned from being gone for the weekend. EW, right? She wasn't even able to stay in her room because of the flies. (not her fault at all) Lesson learned to all dorm residents out there: take out the trash when you leave for the weekend!

Another friend, Sam, had borrowed my super glue to fix something last week. She then told me today that she super-glued the cap to the tube and now she can't get it open again. Lesson learned: don't do that! :) (but I still love you, Sam!! made my day...)

Today was a pretty chill day. I talked to my dad for a little bit and I think I'm going to continue looking in to the Event Management major and then possibly get an MBA afterwords. Still TBD, but it's a start! Now to find classes for next semester...

"If you like to travel...." CRC workshop in the afternoon after visiting the A Cafe! Then cramming for Chem exam and taking chem exam! woot.

Day 18: Surprise Surprise...

So I didn't really do anything worth blogging about today. I slept till noon, chilled, watched some Boy Meets World, and did homework. C'est tout! (that's all!)
I did try the Yoplait Boston Creme Pie yogurt just now because I was hungry. But it was not as good as Ben and Jerry's ice cream. Yoplait is just icky. Luckily Publix had 20 for $5 yogurt so I have plenty of that.

Oh. I also did some soul searching/career-major exploration via the Career Resource Center online. And guess what? IT STILL DIDN'T HELP. For one thing, they didn't include all the majors here. For another, they showed some majors that we don't even offer! How ridiculous. So, more searching this upcoming week....

Day 17: Festive Fall Festivities

Who knew that standing in a crowded warehouse full of books could be so awesome? Elizabeth and I went to the book sale at an area library today! It was so much fun! Besides seeing many people I knew, I got 5 books for less than $5. I am now the proud owner of all of Jane Austen's novels. Plus Don Quixote as a gift for my roomie. It was just so much fun! This is the picture of the outside. It was just bustling with people!

Next in the day, Danielle and I went to Kohl's. I bought an ADORABLE pair of boots that were on sale. I can not WAIT for cold weather so I can wear them. (I previously only had sneakers as closed toe shoes. and those aren't fun)

Danielle and I also went to Red Mango for frozen yogurt this afternoon. It was our first time there, and we had a delicious encounter. In my opinion, way better than Mochi. We had Pumpkin Spice and Madagascar Vanilla as our yogurt flavors with Nilla Wafers mixed in. Talk about yummy!

We came home after a quick Publix run and made pizza. I did receive a battle wound (now safely fixed with a Toy Story band aid) from the pizza making, but it was still super fun and super delicious. And then just chilled the rest of the day.

Anywho! Fun day, hope yours was too!!

Day 16: Fantastic Relaxation

After the killer Calc2 test, I scurried home to shower and nap before chem quiz. The quiz ended up only taking 20 minutes to do and I had a full hour and a half before my next class, so I went to Chick-fil-a and relaxed and watched an episode of NCIS! Then went to class and walked to get the car from my brother's apartment. After receiving the car, the rest of the night was a piece of cake.

Danielle and I made Steak, (home fry) potatoes&onions, and snap peas for dinner. YUMM. Then Elizabeth and I went to Ben and Jerry's to celebrate Calc2 test being finished/enjoy our Friday night. Neither of us had ever been to an actual B&J's store, so that was pretty cool. I had Boston Creme Pie Ice cream. SO DELICIOUS!!!!!!!! And the best part? It was free!!! Hooray coupons!

Then we headed back to campus and played Quelf - the awesome game of randomness - outside for a while. and talked. It was just an awesome time to get to know Elizabeth more.

Still trying to figure stuff out for next semester/life, but I have time.

Tomorrow:
1. Going to the public community library with Elizabeth for a book sale fun time.
2. Going shopping with Danielle for randomness
3. Perhaps the Butterfly Fest at the Nat. History Museum? we shall see
4. Going over to the Big's for a fun night of fun :)

What a great weekend this turned into!

There was something completely random that I wanted to talk about, but I forgot. Although I would like to quote part of our conversation at B&J's...
Me - "I love all the decorations in here. The cows on the wall... Look an airplane painted on the ceiling!"
(Directly following that line)
Elizabeth - "My friend has a guinea pig."
yes. It was that random. :)

Day 15: Well... That Didn't Help...

The Exploratory Majors Workshop just made both Hannah and I more confused. I was very disappointed and didn't really learn a whole lot about what I needed to do to figure it out. Oh well. Back to randomly wondering what to do with my life. It's quite stressful!
Next week is the "If you like traveling and cultures, these careers are for you" Career Resource Center session. Maybe that will help. But not holding a lot of hope anymore...

(If you would like to see what I may possibly want to do, scroll to bottom of this post)

Also, I decided to sleep instead of watching the meteor shower. It was a glorious 9 hours of sleep! Off to an early dinner, Calc2 study session, and then back to study Chem until I die of over stuffing my brain with information.

WHY DOESN'T LIFE MAKE SENSE? AUGHHH

Also, we are starting a club for people who are so completely lost they have no idea what they are doing. All are invited. :P

Options for Majors (or minors) in no particular order
  • Anthropology
  • Recreation, Parks and Tourism (event planning)
  • some sort of Business something. Business Administration with specialization in International Relations
  • Something else I haven't discovered yet...
  • French (only as a minor, and this is under consideration)
Any help is appreciated!!!!

Day 14: Wedding Thoughts

Tonight at CRU community group (CG), we had a special celebration for one of our group leaders. She just got engaged last week! So we did what a group of 20+ girls do best... listened to the story of how they met, fell in love, and how he proposed. Then we went around and shared what we envisioned our wedding being when we were little and how that's changed to what we see now. I fully intended on leaving early because I have a lot of work to do, but this was just too good to pass up.
Besides that, off to more studying and work. As always...

Waking up early in the morning to watch the meteor shower with some friends! Hopefully I can get a little sleep in the meantime.

Tomorrow is the exploratory major workshop! Let's see what happens!!
Have a fantastic Thursday.

Day 13: Yummy yumms

Today Hannah and I took our neighbor Brooklyn to the Arredondo Cafe for lunch. It was her first time there and she loved it. You should check out her blog to enjoy the details. (A Midweek Cup of Chic).

Besides lunch, I also had a Calc2 quiz that I think I finally rocked :) So yay!
After that, I caught up on some awesome sleep and headed to (boring) class.
I went to "Girls' Night Out" with Campus Crusade for Christ, which was pretty fun! And got to see a long lost cousin that I haven't seen so far on campus.
And to top off the awesome night, my amazing roommate brought be a Pumpkin Milkshake from the dining hall. Ohhhh how I love fall. (see poll on the right, my vote is for pumpkin flavors....)

Anyways, back to more studying.
Until tomorrow!

Day 12: The Week Ahead

Looking into the week is pretty gloomy unfortunately.

Although there are lots of cool events happening, there's WAY too much work to be done.

Calc 2 quiz in the morning, test on Friday. Chem quiz on Friday, test next Wed. Digital final paper proposal and 2 blog comments due Thursday. French oral exam Wed immediately following my lunch date thing. And we haven't covered the chapter the exam is on. I still don't see how that is fair, but whatever.
AYE AYE AYE
Whyyy???

These classes aren't even classifying things as "midterms." I feel like if they did, I could easily just say "midterms this week" and you'd understand. But NO. Just random things happening on the same week.

Anyways. Still really excited for free lunch on Wed. and CRU on Thursday (if I make it that far...) and now the wonderful Elizabeth, my friend from Phi Lamb, and I are going to Ben and Jerry's on Friday night to celebrate the end of Calc 2 test (for this week...). So I guess that's Something to look forward to.

In the meantime, back to studying and a snack to get me through.
<3

Day 11: Old Favorites

Tonight Hannah and I watched When Harry Met Sally for the first time. We both liked it a lot! yay for "classic" romance movies! After that we watched some Boy Meets World. Boyyy do we miss that show!

Besides that today, We tried out a new church (meh, we didn't love it) and I volunteered at the local homeless shelter for Phi Lamb. Pretty fun.

So it is currently 11:11 PM and we are now going to think about maybe looking at some homework. Or not. Don't know.

This week begins the Workshops for the next two weeks! Hooray!!
AND to top this whole week off, I finally have more bread to make PB&J with. No more asking Hannah to steal some from the dining hall....

Happy Week!

Day 10: What Now?

Our football team just lost the homecoming game 10-7. They could have made it to overtime, but missed the last field goal in the last 10 seconds. I don't really care since I don't love football, but everyone else on campus does. I don't like to see everyone upset. Makes me upset.

Besides losing and having AWFUL seats for the game (couldn't see the screens at all and when balls were punted, you just hoped they would land, couldn't find them...)(not to mention the smell of pizza wafting near us all the time), today was an alright day.

Slept in. ate. did homework. ate leftovers. fiddled on the computer. ate more food. (yet all unsatisfying...)

So I ask you followers... what now?
Think I'll pop in A Walk to Remember and relax.

<3 At least it is a long weekend!

Day 9: Homecoming Festivities

Today was a day off of school for Homecoming. Hannah and I woke up early (for us) to get to see the parade, which was pretty cool. Then I worked on an essay for a few hours and cleaned the room so my Big sister could come over to watch a movie.

We watched The Prince and Me, which is my favorite movie ever. AHHH. so great!

Really short post today because it was pretty relaxing.

TOMORROW:
1) National "Sweetest" Day (tell someone they're sweet. like valentine's day, but sweeter)
2) Homecoming football game!!!! HOORAY!
3) Pretty weather for the game! DOUBLE HOORAY!!

Happy weekend!

Day 8: Nonsensical Antics

Today, I only had one class (yay!) and then went to pick up the free BEAT MSU t-shirt, then headed home for a quiet, relaxing afternoon. Painted my nails, watched TV, showered, and got ready for SEMI-FORMAL!

We went to dinner first, which was sooo fun. The highlight of the night, definitely. We went to BJ's which was delicious, PLUS we had a really cute and funny waiter. <3

He even took a (awkward) picture with us at the end. With almost 40 people there, it was crazy, but fun. Dinner lasted about 2 and a half hours... helloooo long (fun) time! Then we attempted to get to the dance, which took 25 minutes because we got lost (less than a mile away from the restaurant...).

Danced, sweated, had fun, came home.
Great day, great night. Now off to bed.
Props to my awesome roomie for doing my makeup and hair (which stayed in place ALL NIGHT!) <3 Love you!

NO SCHOOL TOMORROW!

Wednesday, October 13, 2010

Day 7: The Hump/Slump

As for a typical Wednesday, today was "Hump day" but I've changed it to the "Hump/Slump day". Because I reallyyy just don't love Wednesdays. It's probably just the daunting task of being forced to wear jeans and sneakers to chem lab, which is also just plain awful. But regardless, Wednesdays stink. Plus though, it's Community Group night! yay!! There were literally 4 other events I could attend tonight. Too much going on! AHHH.

On a positive note... let me find something positive about today. I have bubbles on my desk, maybe I'll go blow some outside...
OH POSITIVE: I watched the Glee episode "duets" from last night and it was AWESOMEEEE <3 <3 <3 yayy Glee! Okay, that's a good thing.

Off to make (leftover) dinner with Danielle.
HOORAY TOMORROW IS THURSDAY! AND NO SCHOOL FRIDAY!
This means there's only one class left for the rest of the week! PARTAY!!
:) Happy Thursday!

Tuesday, October 12, 2010

Day 6: Adventures

Today my friend from high school, Olivia, and I rode her scooter back to my dorm. We had to turn left but couldn't because of a median in the road, so we ended up taking extra turns and spent like 15 minutes riding when it should have only been 5. But oh well!

Also, I went to Zumba for the first time up here. I love it sooo much; back home I went at least once a week and more during the summer. It was a little different style up here, but still good to get back in the swing of it.

I had lunch with my lovely roomie, my Big sister, and my brother (real, biological brother). It was yummy!! And pretty good company.

Most importantly about today, I started a NEW BLOG called "The Campus Corner". I was inspired by randomly walking through a new building and decided I needed to write a blog to inform people of random things all over the campus. So, please follow that, too! (Links to it and to the friends' blogs are on the side of the page => ) And if you go to school with me, feel free to add locations you'd like me to spotlight/research, etc.

I'm excited for this blog and for the new one, too!
Hooray it's Wednesday tomorrow!! <3

Monday, October 11, 2010

Day 5: Opportunities

So many cool opportunities presented themselves today! Here we go:
  1. My brother got me a ticket for the game this weekend (without having to pay extra. so HOORAY)
  2. I've been selected to give feedback on how the University Housing system allowed freshman to choose rooms this year. (aka, FREE LUNCH in an air conditioned room)
  3. The Career Resource Center has workshops for "focusing on a career instead of a major." Just found out about them today. Unfortunately I have class during the "I like to help people" workshop, BUT I can go to the "I like to travel a lot" workshop in two weeks.
  4. Which is the same day as the Cicerone's meeting. They're kind of like the tour guides to the campus and help at special events and stuff. Pretty difficult position to get.
  5. Also next week is an "Exploratory Majors" Workshop to help you decipher what you want to major in.
So.... Basically in the next 2 weeks I'll be going to 4 workshops to help me figure out my future. Awesome right? and all for free, which is my favorite part!

Tonight is Worship Under the Stars with Phi Lamb! yay!!! Nothing better than praising God under the beautiful sky that He made for us.

Have a wonderful rest of the day!

Sunday, October 10, 2010

Day 4: "The girls are back in town"

I had gone home this weekend, which was awesome. Got home kinda late though. But, the drive was the most important part of today. My friend Danielle and I drove back to school and we ran over some obnoxiously hard thing. We didn't see it in the road until it was too late... DUN DUN DUNNN....... Luckily, there was no damage to our car. But, this is what we decided it was (after 20 minutes of debating).

It was the Cube from the Transformers. It was. We swear.

ANYWAYS. We also ended up with "The Boys are back in town" as we drove into our parking lot... so that was pretty funny.

My awesome mom loaded me up with Halloween decorations, so now our door is completely covered, there are pumpkins and candy all over the room, and we are sooo ready to win the costume contest. Hooray October!

Tomorrow (well, today at this point) starts Homecoming week!!!! Get excited!
Until then...

Saturday, October 9, 2010

Day 3: Oktoberfest

I drove home today to go to my best friend's house for Oktoberfest. No beer, just lots of fun pumpkin/fall things. Here's our menu for the night:
Pumpkin dip
Pumpkin fondue
Pumpkin chili
Cookie cake in shape of pumpkin
and a whole lot of candy from the Pumpkin Pinata

As you can see, we may be a little bit obsessed with pumpkin, but it was SO GOOD! Plus it was amazing to see my second family <3 I've missed them so much!

Up for tomorrow: Homework (ew), hanging with a few friends from here, church, dinner, and back on the road to College Home.
Enjoy the end of the weekend! :)

Day 2: The BIG Reveal

So I'm part of Sigma Phi Lambda, a Christian sorority. We've had Big/Little (sister) week all this week in preparation for the big "reveal" tonight. The Big Sister sends the little surprise gifts and goodies all week, and then tonight we found out who our Big actually is. I have been so blessed and have received an amazing Big, Jenny. I am just so excited to be able to get to know her even more now that we're "family".
Also, I'm headed home tomorrow to spend the day with my bestest friend and her family. And my awesome roommate was nice enough to get out of the comfy bed and bring me something outside. So basically, I've been super blessed today and couldn't have asked for a better Friday.

Also, very important: Jenny had Toy Story bubbles for me tonight. Obviously, this equals SO MUCH FUN. <3

Have a fantastic weekend!!

Day 1: The Set Up

Hello world! Today marks my first day of blogging. We've been discussing it in Digital Culture class and I decided that this would be something fun to attempt. So here goes! Right now I'm just setting everything up the way I want it. Glad that I've learned a lot of HTML and WebDesign stuff to get me through the set up!
Till later...

(Okay it's later now)
WOO. I have been successful in the set up process. (So I think) I am loving the October weather and fun and colors, etc. Hence the fall leaves background (I'm imagining that's what's outside my window, even though it's not).
So. yep. A blog: pretty intense stuff right there.
Or not.
Happy Thursday :) It's a beautiful God-made day.
Below is a picture of the beautiful frame that my Big Sister made for me! And TADA I know how to put pictures in!!! :)
